Stephen is a midwest-based editor with nearly two decades of experience telling intriguing stories.
He recently completed GARDEN CITY, his fourth documentary feature. It’s a film about an American small town that chose to embrace immigration, and the forces that tried to destroy it. Stephen previously teamed up with the same director on the suicide hotline documentary THE LISTENERS. Stephen has edited two films about education in America: SPIRAL BOUND and NATURE MATTERS. He also provided additional editing on the capital punishment analysis THERE WILL BE NO STAY and the cryptozoology love letter BIG FUR.
Stephen has edited four narrative features, including JAYHAWKERS, directed by Academy Award-winner Kevin Willmott (BLACKKKLANSMAN, DA 5 BLOODS). This story of basketball legends Wilt Chamberlain and “Phog” Allen tackles issues of race and sports in the 1950s. Stephen also edited the christian horror film LAST BREATH, and dramas THE DOME OF HEAVEN and WHAT WE’VE BECOME.
Stephen has also edited dozens of short films and two Emmy-nominated web series: the revenge western RED BIRD and emotional kaleidoscope THE SQUARE ROOT. He recently won Best Editing at the Indie Series Awards for his work on the latter.
Stephen is also a colorist on many feature films, documentaries, and music videos. These include Sundance selections THE ONLY GOOD INDIAN and CRUDE OIL, creature feature NAILBITER, and celebrity bio doc ON YOUR MARC.
Whether your project is getting started or just needs some finishing touches, Stephen can help you tell your story.
